| Personal History | Born in the Rockyview district of North America Lukas is typical of kids who grew up there, polite until provoked and always nice even when he's thrown a punch. His story really begins in 2373 when he joined Starfleet at the height of the Dominion war. Lukas entered the academy on a rushed track through the academy as a tactical officer, while he absorbed the lessons of success the failures made him a stronger officer who avoided making the same mistake twice where possible. His first duty aboard USS Windsor proved to be a christening by fire as the Windsor came under attack while protecting a convoy from Jem'Hidar attackers. In the ensuing months Lukas went from a duty role to Tactical officer as the war beat down the pool of available officers to fill the roles, but he never took for granted any of the chances too grow and learn. After the Breen entered the war Lukas had to face his biggest challenge as it was the first time where an enemy not only had the advantage they could deliver the knock out blow in a single move he was forced to adapt. Not quite twenty one Lukas was already a full Lieutenant and the lead tactical officer on the Windsor when the ill-fated mission they were on would end the Windsor's role in the war. During an engagement with a Dominion unit the Windor was damaged badly and on fire with a number of the senior staff killed the Second officer, Lukas and a number of Junior officers limped the burned and broken ship back to a Starbase where sadly the Windsor was decommissioned due too the severity of the damage. Transferred too the USS Normandy Lukas was thrown not only into a new crew dynamic he had additional duties as he became the Chief Tactical officer and Head of Security. The Normandy's role in the final days of the war was solely in the thick of most major engagements where Lukas found himself not only fighting battles on the bridge but fighting boarding parties on several occasions, these brutal hand to hand events while leaving their mark on him also left their mark on his crewmates as it wasn't a pleasant one, he wasn't above encouraging his security teams any any marines that might have been aboard to not only use normal standard issue weaponry but to use improvised weapons and other devices to repel intruders. At the end of the war Lukas was a Lieutenant Commander and had earned the nickname 'The bush fighter' after a rather violent engagement with a Cardassian and Dominion. At the end of the war Lukas was on the fast track to a First Officer position. Part of this was promotion to OPS aboard the Normandy in the post war era, While he had to balance the need day to day operations of the ship with the need to avoid violence unless it was needed. The Normandy would enter the post war era by returning to earth where she would undergo a much needed refit and overhaul. For Lukas this would represent hi first break in service that the young man would need. During the extended break he met Jessica Newton at a mutual friends party, while the couple hit it off very well and they even attempted to start a relationship it would be an additional five years before they would marry. In that time Lukas would finally in the late part of 2388 be offered a first officer position aboard USS Yellowknife. Life aboard the Vancouver class ship not only became a learning opportunity in not only what a starship really is but in the engineering and other duties that are undertaken by it's crews. It was also at this time that his relationship with Jessica was beginning to sour, she'd expressed a need to return to earth and raise their children away from the life of a starship. Lukas agreed and would finish out his time aboard the Yellowknife. In the final weeks of 2399 Lukas was offered a short term position at Douglas station overseeing the outfitting of the four newly built Neo-Constitution class ships. During this time he was very much caught up in the Frontier day fiasco, while he managed to survive it left him bitter and angry at some of the details that would emerge in the weeks afterwards. Lukas would return after a short leave to new orders. USS Tecumseh would be the fourth ship of the new class and the first that was fully and purposely built out of the ship yards. Taking the lessons from the three refits along with his own experiences over the span of twenty plus years he formed his outline of how he would command his new ship. |
